glossary
Structured data
Machine-readable description that should agree with the visible page.
Scope
Editorial guidance for English-language marketing teams. Examples are illustrative, not measured results. No citation, ranking, traffic, or revenue outcome is guaranteed.
Meaning
Structured data describes information in an organized machine-readable format. It differs from editorial structure, such as headings and ordered steps. A page can have one without doing the other well.
Google-specific boundary
Google’s AI-feature guidance says there is no special schema.org markup required for those features and that structured data should match visible content. This is guidance about Google, not a universal rule for every answer product.
Common mistake
Publishing hidden claims in markup that a reader cannot verify on the page. Treat the visible explanation as the accountable statement and keep its machine-readable description consistent. More fields do not automatically mean stronger evidence.
Sources
Read the original material. A source link is not, by itself, proof of a claim.
