Discoverability

The ability to find a page, distinct from its eventual use in an answer.

By GEO Primer editorialPublished Reviewed

Scope

Editorial guidance for English-language marketing teams. Examples are illustrative, not measured results. No citation, ranking, traffic, or revenue outcome is guaranteed.

Meaning

Discoverability concerns whether a reader or system can find a resource. Useful internal links, clear navigation, and appropriate technical access are different pieces of the inspection. Do not collapse them into an unexplained “AI-ready” badge.

Inspect separately

Check whether the expected URL is linked from a relevant page and whether it opens to the intended public content. Review crawler controls with the website owner. Record access problems separately from missing citations.

Common mistake

Treating discovery as proof of selection. A page may be findable and readable while irrelevant to a particular question. Fixing an access issue creates an opportunity for use, not evidence that use occurred.

Sources

Read the original material. A source link is not, by itself, proof of a claim.
